We strive to improve the breed with every breeding we do. We enjoy making our stud(s) available to bitches who we feel will complement their strengths and strengthen their weaknesses; and likewise for the bitch. Our studs have faults and we'll honestly discuss them with you so you'll be able to choose the right one for your bitch, whether or not it's one of ours. We also put heavy emphasis on correct conformation and big, houndy type. We strongly recommend bitches to have a DNA profile, hips OFA'd or PennHip'd, eyes CERF'd within the last 12 months, and thyroid function checked within the last 24 months. We require a current (within 10 days) negative brucellosis test for natural breedings and will provide you with the same on our males. When convenient, we prefer to have our own vet perform this test prior to breeding.
Bitches may be brought in, shipped in (in certain situations) or we can ship fresh chilled semen. Stud fee is by private arrangement.
Above is a drawing of the ideal Bluetick, according to the artist (I don't know who it is), which was printed in an old BBCHA Yearbook. We also consider this to be our ideal and this is the style of hound we strive to produce. Note that the head is well balanced and the muzzle is deep, not snipey. Note the nice, low earset and the fold and lay of the ear against the head and neck. The shoulder is correctly angled, not upright as is often seen in show dogs, and this hound is not pigeon- (or chicken) breasted. The rear angulation is correct also, unlike the many straight rears seen in the show dogs. Chest is of the correct depth and the topline is nice and level with a correctly sloping croup and tailset. Notice that the feet are tight but large enough to provide a solid foundation for the size of the hound, NOT little golf balls barely large enough to support the dog's weight. You can also tell by the picture that this hound has substantial bone, not fine-boned as many hounds today are. We still have plenty of work ahead of us to consistently produce a hound that looks like this, but we like a challenge and what's the point of hunting an ugly hound when you can have both beauty and ability.
If you know who the artist is, please email us. We'd like to give credit where credit is due.

COONHOUND STUDS
Click here to see our stud, Mr Big. He's a 2011 UKC Performance Sire.
The following dogs were born here in our kennel and may be of interest to you in your breeding program.
Email us if you'd like contact information for the owners of any of these dogs. All stud arrangements need to be made directly with the owners.
Chester is a litter brother to the Mr. Big dog we own. He lives in southern California and is hunted on bear and coon. He's not afraid to get right in there and pull hair on a bear. There are no competition events in that part of the state so Chester has no titles, but he did get a Best of Breed win and a Water Race final line and tree win in the only UKC event he was entered in.
Here is what his owner says about him:
He is an absolute coon dog deluxe. I hunted him in areas that other guys swore I couldn't get a coon out of because they had already run all the coon out of there. Everytime I turned him loose he put one up. Most times he would follow up with another 2 or 3 before the night was done.
Needless to say I have had offers to buy him, but there is no way I will ever let him go. He is just such a solid tree dog and stays put.....always sounding off with that booming bawl mouth louder than a locomotive. He truely is something else.
Thunder and Mater are two of only 3 living sons of our Rebel dog. They live in Utah and are biggame dogs, exceling on bear. Their owner says they're the kind of bear dogs he's always wanted.
Bo is the other son of Rebel. He lives in Ohio and is a coondog and a UKC show Ch. He has several litters on the ground. His owner says he's a beautiful, long-eared, houndy dog that's a true pleasure to hunt.
Judge is owned by Bob Jondle in Iowa and is a coondog. He's a triple Champion and has some Field Trial points. One of his hunt wins was 5th place at Battle of the Breeds in Oklahoma. Bob says he's an awesome layup dog.
Here's what else Bob has to say about him:
Judge minds better than a house dog and is very accurate. Layups or extremely cold tracks, he can put on a show. He has treed coon within 20 feet of the truck and 1-1/2 miles away. If he isn't struck within 15 minutes, most of the time he will be DEEEEP! He opens honest and fast, has a good cold nose, and is a fast track dog. He's a pressure tree dog with a loud deep mouth which can be heard over most dogs within a reasonable distance.
Jimbo lives in Kentucky and is a coondog. He's currently a UKC Grand Show Ch and has 30 Water Race points.
Here is what his owner says about him:
Jimbo is a close to medium range dog "alone" and very accurate with a bawl/chop on ground with a wolffffffman change over to 90 bpm chop. He is very athletic and good looking and will easily dual grand after more hunting "alone" and with select other hounds. Once he is really ready we will hit the hunts Hard.
